Yeshua: The Life of Messiah from a Messianic Jewish Perspective

by Dr. Arnold Fruchtenbaum

During His ministry to the Jewish people, Yeshua (Jesus) journeyed throughout the land promised to the Jewish patriarchs, presenting Himself to the Jews as their Messiah. He was a Jew living in a Jewish land among the Jewish people, yet, much of the knowledge of this Jewish society, its culture, and traditions has grown dim with the passage of time. In this work, Dr. Arnold G. Fruchtenbaum shines a bright light on the life of Yeshua and the land of Israel during the Second Temple period, interpreting the Gospels from a Messianic Jewish perspective. To achieve this, Dr. Fruchtenbaum has done original research in the Hebrew, Aramaic, and Greek source texts, and has also drawn on the works of other scholars and the writings of the ancient rabbis. A. T. Robertson’s time-tested A Harmony of the Gospels provides the framework for his exegesis.

In the first volume of this multivolume commentary on the Gospels, Dr. Arnold G. Fruchtenbaum begins his detailed exegesis of the life of the Messiah by providing in-depth background information on the Second Temple period. He then covers the birth, childhood, and adolescence of Yeshua up to the point when He begins His public ministry.

Dr. Arnold G. Fruchtenbaum holds a B.A. degree from Cedarville University in Hebrew and Hellenistics, a Th.M. degree in Hebrew and Old Testament Studies from Dallas Theological Seminary, and received his Ph.D. from New York University with the completion of his dissertation, Israelology: The Missing Link in Systematic Theology. He is the founding director of Ariel Ministries and a much respected biblical authority in evangelical and messianic circles.

“Volume 1 of Arnold Fruchtenbaum’s study about Yeshua takes us deep into the Second Temple and rabbinic Jewish background that helps to explain this unique first century figure. It is a fascinating journey with many details that illuminate the life of the Messiah of Israel. While one might raise a question here and there, Fruchtenbaum is fair always showing what the discussion at any point is. His full citing of Jewish texts allows the reader to see the direction of the conversation. This book is full of important observations about Jesus in a Jewish context. It is well worth the time of a careful read and will be a handy resource for a long time to come.” — Darrell Bock (Executive Director for Cultural Engagement, Howard G. Hendricks Center for Christian Leadership and Cultural Engagement, Senior Research Professor of New Testament Studies)

The Personal Life Story of Dr. Arnold Fruchtenbaum, Founder and President of Ariel Ministries

by L. Jesse Grace

Known for his foremost scholarship and his in-depth knowledge of the biblical history and geography of Israel, Dr. Arnold G. Fruchtenbaum has become one of the finest Bible exegetes of our time. The purpose of this biography is to present an intimate portrait of this scholar and teacher. His story will lead you through some of the most dramatic points of world history and take you on a journey around the globe. It is the story of a Jewish man who came to faith in his Jewish Messiah, embarked on a unique journey of servitude to his God, and impacted not only theologians, scholars, and church leaders, but everyday believers alike. Their progress to maturity, as well as the outreach to his Jewish people, is what has kept Dr. Fruchtenbaum going for nearly five decades of ministry—to God’s glory and for the salvation of Israel.

“The teaching ministry of Dr. Fruchtenbaum has impacted me for over 30 years. When I left my training at Dallas Theological Seminary and the Hebrew University in Jerusalem in the early 1980s, I was confused as to how to put together the academic and cultural information I had received from these two different perspectives… When I discovered Dr. Fruchtenbaum’s teaching, I found what I neededósomeone whose academic training was similar to mine, had processed the biblical, Jewish, and Christian data, and had successfully navigated the conflicting theological perspectives within the messianic movement while maintaining a sound biblical Christology, dispensational hermeneutic, and a balanced view of Messianic Judaism and the local church…” — Dr. Randall Price (Distinguished Research Professor and Executive Director of the Center for Judaic Studies at Liberty University in Lynchburg, Virginia)

Nicodemus, A Rabbi’s Quest Illustrated

by Jesse and Joshua Gonzales

“From scholarly to simply illustrated, every issue of Illustrated Messianic Bible Studies brings to you a visually enhanced study of Godís Word from a Messianic Jewish Perspective.” Written by Jesse Gonzales Jr. based on the teachings of Dr. Arnold Fruchtenbaum. Illustrated by Joshua Gonzales.

There are many New Testament passages of scripture that require a knowledge of the Jewish frame of reference to be understood, even familiar ones. One such passage is the discussion between Jesus and Nicodemus on the new birth. In this work, Jesse Gonzales provides that kind of understanding. — Arnold G. Fruchtenbaum

The Temple and Bible Prophecy:

A Definitive Look at Its PAST, PRESENT, and FUTURE

by Randall Price

Description: Formerly titled "The Coming Last Days Temple", this book has been expanded and revised with the latest information and research on the temple and biblical prophecy.

Are the biblical prophecies about a future temple merely symbolic, or do they point to a new physical Temple and even a restored sacrificial system? Are we to interpret Ezekiel's description of a magnificent new Temple figuratively or literally? And are Israel's current, ongoing preparations to rebuild the Temple truly a significant sign of the end times?

This comprehensive study of the Jewish Temple helps readers answer these questions and more.

It also provides:

  • a fast-paced history of the Tabernacle, Solomon's Temple, Zerubbabel's Temple, and Herod's Temple
  • an enlightening look at God's eternal purpose for the Temple
  • a concise explanation of why the Temple disappeared and why it must reappear

Ariel's Harmony of the Gospels:

Based on "A Harmony of the Gospels" by A. T. Robertson

by Arnold G. Fruchtenbaum, Th.M., Ph.D.

Description: When the theologian and Bible scholar Dr. Arnold G. Fruchtenbaum developed his teaching on the life of the Messiah from a Jewish perspective, he used A. T. Robertonís harmony of the Gospels as a basis for his studies. However, he deviated from Robertsonís work whenever the scholar chose not to follow Lukeís sequential order of Messiahís life and ministry. Furthermore, Dr. Fruchtenbaum chose a thematic, not a geographical, approach to establish a coherent chronology of the events depicted in the four Gospels.

The basic translation used in the American Standard Version of 1901. However, the archaic language has been modernized, and the names of persons and places were transliterated in accordance with Hebrew pronunciation. The result of these changes to Robertsonís harmony have now been complied by Dr. Fruchtenbaum and Jan Marek Kopytek in Arielís Harmony of the Gospels, a work that clearly shows the Jewishness of the Messiahís life, actions, and words.
